Trained people make the difference on the day.

Fire Marshals and Fire Wardens carry real duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This course gives them the knowledge and confidence to carry those duties out, with practical exercises rather than a slide deck.

It suits offices, schools, care settings and warehouses. No previous experience is needed.

What you will learn

  • The duties of a Fire Marshal, in routine checks and in an emergency
  • How to recognise and reduce fire risks in the workplace
  • Raising the alarm and leading a safe evacuation
  • How people behave in emergencies and how to manage it

The course includes hands-on use of fire extinguishers. Coordinated evacuation drills are available on request.

How many do you need?

There is no fixed number of Fire Marshals.

The size and layout of your premises, how many people use it, their mobility, the type of activity undertaken, and any shift patterns should be used to determine the number of trained Fire Marshals. As part of a fire risk assessment, we can advise on an appropriate number of marshals if you need it.

Refresher training is recommended every year, or sooner if your premises, staff or procedures change. Regular fire drills should be part of the plan.
